Birding Field Trips
Trips are in the planning stage for the 2008-09 season to begin September, 2008. 

Trips being planned are to Lake Okeechobee, Kissimmee Restoration Boat Tour from Riverwoods, Celery Fields, Kissimmee Prairie, STA-5, FWC Royce Unit, Avon Park Air Force property and February annual trip around the south and west part of Lake Istokpoga. a monthly Saturday trip in an area near Lake Istokpoga led by Bud Warren and many more..

Anyone wishing to arrange and/or lead a trip is encouraged to notify Helen by e-mail. Pick a place and a date -  hwoben@juno.com . Help is needed and appreciated. 

Suggestions for places and dates are also welcome.

Check the Highlands County Audubon Message Board for recent sightings  and  discussions. Visit if you are coming to our area and would like to get in touch with local birders about locations and what's happening.

Birding Hotspots in Highlands County
Highlands Co. offers excellent opportunities for birding. The following information lists several sites in Highlands Co. and a few other great sites in neighboring counties. All sites are productive, although you will find more variety during the spring and fall migration and the winter season. We will have a list for you soon!
