ALUMINUM CANS

Aluminum cans are 100% recyclable and save our resources in many ways. It takes 95% less energy to make a new one from a recycled can and the can you recycle today could be back as a new can in 60-90 days! If you take them to the recycling place yourself, please make certain that our treasurer, Dave,  receives the money by calling or contacting him or any officer or Board Member. At last drop off they were giving 60 cents per lb., so we need lots of aluminum-only cans or other pure aluminum.
Remember to bring your aluminum cans to a meeting or contact Dave Bailie to make other arrangements. The proceeds this year have been sent to Wrede's Wildlife Rehabilitation for food and supplies for the animals and birds.

EDUCATION

This year’s recipient of our Miriam Beck Scholarship Award is Chris Stephan who attended Audubon's Hog Island Camp in Maine. Chris  will share his adventures at the Maine Audubon Camp for Teachers and how he is integrating skills learned there into his classes during our October 28th meeting. Pictures he brought back as well as a re-print form the Highlands Today Newspaper about his experience may be seen HERE
