Friday, September 29— OPENING FIELD TRIP. Northwest Lake Okeechobee “Dr. Martin Stapleton Memorial Birding Trail.” Bring lunch. Leave Lake Placid Tower at 8:00 AM.
Wednesday, October 4—Scrub Pens Road and Istokpoga Park Dr. Paul Gray with Audubon of Florida will lead our group. Bring Lunch. Leave Lake Placid Tower at 8:00 AM or meet at Church of the Brethren 332 Palm Estates Road, Lorida at 8:30 AM.
Thursday, October 12—Lake Apopka Loop Trail. Wildlife viewing of restoration area. Bring Lunch. Leave Lake Placid Tower at 7:30 AM or Quality Inn 6525 US 27 North Sebring at 8:00 AM.

Saturday, November 25—Lake June - In - Winter Scrub State Park and Placid Lakes. Easy trip, some walking and driving checking parks, lakes and undeveloped areas for water and land birds. Lunch at Jaxson’s. Leave Lake Placid Tower at 8:00 AM.
Wednesday, November 29—Myakka River State Park. Wading birds, raptors, song birds, migratory birds and ducks. Leave Lake Placid Tower at 7:30 AM. Lunch at Mary Margaret’s Tea Room in Arcadia. Please call to reserve. Fran (863-465-0038).
Tuesday, December 12—Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo. This zoo is the only place in Florida where you are guaranteed to see manatees year-round. In addition there are over 1,000 animals on 56 acres of natural habitat. $33.00 Adult ticket—$25.00 Youth ticket, purchased at gate. Lunch in the Zoo. Leave Lake Placid Tower 8:00 AM.
Thursday, January 11—Six Mile Cypress. Lee counties premier board walk and nature area. Bring Lunch. Leave Lake Placid Tower 8:00 AM. Led by Julie Henderson.
Saturday, January 20– STA 5/6. Shallow, constructed wetlands. Wading birds galore. Bring Lunch. Leave Lake Placid Tower promptly at 7:30 AM. Brief rest stop at Clewiston’s McDonalds.
Friday, January 26—NEW Savannas Preserve State Park and Ft. Pierce Inlet. Shore birds including plovers, skimmers, gulls, terns, and maybe even the magnificent frigate bird will make an appearance. Bring Lunch. Leave Lake Placid Tower 7:30 AM. Led by Dale Knapp.
Wednesday, January 31—Avon Park Airforce Range. Various habitats exist to view a variety of birds. Bring Lunch. Leave Lake Placid Tower at 8:00 AM or Quality Inn 6525 US 27 North Sebring at 8:20 AM. Led by Michelle Dent of Archbold Biological Station.
Friday, February 9—Wakodahatchee Wetlands Delray Beach. A near mile long boardwalk with an abundance of birds and other wildlife. Billed on website as best place on earth to view birds. Bring Lunch. Leave Lake Placid Tower 7:30 AM.
Wednesday, February 14—Barley Barber Swamp. Old-growth forest with-1,000-year-old trees. 1.1 mile boardwalk on tour. Cooper’s Hawk, Bale Eagle, Barred Owl, Prairie Warbler, American Redstart, and Northern Waterthrush are listed on website along with many animals, plants, and insects native to Florida. Bring Lunch. Thursday, February 22 – Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary & Blair Audubon. Boardwalk guided tour winding through the swamp. Purchase Lunch on site or Bring Lunch. Leave Lake Placid Tower at 7:30 AM. Led by Sally Stein of Audubon.
Wednesday, February 28—Platt Branch Wildlife Management Area. Limit 15 attendees. Red-cockaded woodpeckers make their home in the old-growth longleaf pine. Florida scrub-jay habitats, seasonal wetlands, and gopher tortoise areas abound. Bring Lunch. Leave Lake Placid Tower at 8:00 AM. Led by Steve Shattler of FWC.
Tuesday, March 6—Rafter T Ranch. Local ranch eco-tour. Bring Lunch. Meet at Lake Placid Tower at 7:30 or Quality Inn 6525 US 27 North, Sebring at 7:30. Led by Jimmy Wahl.
Thursday, March 22—Circle B Bar Reserve & Nature Center in Lakeland. Wetlands, and diverse habitat with lots of species. Leave Lake Placid Tower at 7:30 AM or Quality Inn 6525 US 27 North Sebring at 8:00 AM. Bring Lunch. Tram Tour, Led by Jim Upchurch.
Thursday, March 29— NEW - Pelican Island Pontoon Boat Excursion and Docent led Walking Tour. Vero Beach. The Indian River Lagoon is home to birds, manatees, and dolphins. A naturalist and boat captain will highlight sightings. Over 370 species of birds, 2,000 species of wildlife, and 2,100 species of plants. Bring Lunch. Leave Lake Placid Tower at 7:30 AM. Tuesday, April 17—Royce Unit. Blue Bird Trail with a chance of chicks, Bald Eagle nest, wading birds, waterfowl, woodpeckers, meadowlarks, screech owls, wild turkey, quail, gopher tortoise, and such.
